some facts and figures:
Today there are 5 billions mobile phones in the world which implies 5 of 6 people have a phone and 1 billion lives in Africa, while in 2002 there were 49 million cellphones in this continente, now there are 500 million.
110 million people in Africa access internet through computers. By 2010 the mobile phone is the prefered way to get online.
95% of mobile african users are pre-paid thus if they run out of time they invented the “please call me” free message.
M-PESA, M for Mobile and PESA the swahili for money, is a mobile payment service that resolves the needs of millions of unbaked africans.
